As the economy continues to dive into recession, businesses across the world are closing their doors one after the other. It is very rare to see a "Now Hiring" sign the window of any store. I have personally witnessed 9 of my close friends get laid off over the last year. Although the majority of industries across the globe are declining, the home based business industry is booming! MLM and Network Marketing companies are seeing record sales and recruiting numbers are higher now than in the past 10 years combined.
Old School MLM Marketing Is a Thing of the Past
Although the economy certainly plays a large role in the growth of the MLM industry the internet has played an even larger role. The "old school" ways of marketing a home based business are a thing of the past. I often think about the ways that my father used to recruit into his MLM company:
- Build a list of friends and family members and sell to them
- Walk mindlessly around shopping malls and talk to strangers
- Sell the dream and the MLM company
- Sell the product of the MLM company
I give my father tremendous credit for being able to build an MLM company using the methods above. However, those methods make me sick to my stomach every time I think about them. I joined my first MLM company in 2001 while in college. I applied every single one of the methods outlined above to my business and I fell flat on my face. I tried over and over again to recruit people into my company but the only thing that I received in return was frustration, anger and eventually failure.
It was not until I stumbled across a new methodology and philosophy that I started to realize that I was doing it all wrong. MLM and Network Marketing companies are based off of one concept - networking. They do not grow if their distributors or affiliates do not network the opportunity. The Internet is now the biggest platform in the world for networking and the individuals that are properly using it to drive their business are the ones with online MLM business success.

What I struggling with was how to properly position my opportunity on these platforms to exponentially grow my network and business.

- Over time you build trust with your readers
- Once they trust you they will begin asking questions
Obviously the above are just bullet points and there is much more to this process, but once you can grasp this concept you can grow your MLM online business bigger than you can possibly imagine. I personally know individuals using this exact method that get 50-100 leads every single day. From these leads, they recruit 7-10 individuals into their primary company each week.
